Super excited about Microsoft Teams announcement today from Microsoft. I will be doing an in depth comparison and analysis of Slack and Microsoft Teams. Having used both, to be honest I am in a bit of a dilemma.

Anyways, if you looking at activating your Microsoft Teams service for your Office 365 tenant, do the following:

  1. Browse to the Office 365 Admin portal. If you do not see this Icon within your apps pane within portal.office.com it could mean that you are not the administrator for this tenant. Do not fear, sent this link to your IT / Office 365 admin and they can sort this out for you.

  2. Click on Settings and then browse to the Services & Add-ins section

  3. On the right hand pane, you should be able to see the various services that is available to your tenant, click on Microsoft Teams from the option:

  4. Flick the switch to turn on Microsoft Teams for your organization

  5. At this point, you do have the option to choose which features within Microsoft teams would be a starting stage. For the sake of the post I will leave the default settings as they are and press save.

And that’s it. Microsoft teams is now activated within your tenant.
